About Us

Scott Vining is a sole practitioner with a vibrant litigation practice in his Owen Sound office. His personable and professional approach in a friendly office environment have served thousands of satisfied clients for over 35 years. 

Scott represents and advises clients on issues related to divorce, custody and access, spousal and child support, child protection law (Children's Aid Society cases), division of property, the intersection of family law and business, separation agreements, domestic contracts. As well, Scott can assist you and your family with preparation of wills, estate matters, real estate and  mortgage transactions. 

During his career, Scott acted as a criminal defence counsel and as a Federal Crown Prosecutor. Scott has the knowledge and skills to assist you in your criminal cases and its intersection with family law issues. 

Over the years, Scott has specialized in family law cases and cases involving Children's Aid Societies. Scott is a standing agent for the Office of the Children's Lawyer, representing children of Grey and Bruce Counties, making sure their voices are heard in the Courts. 

Scott has an in-depth knowledge into the workings of community service providers such as the Children's Aid Societies, Women's Centres, Men's Programs, the Canadian Mental Health Association, Public Health, Police and the Crown Attorney offices, Keystone (Children's Mental Health Centre), utilizing it to his clients' benefit.

Over the years, Scott worked with numerous First Nations clients and the Bands, including the Chippewas of Nawash (Cape Croker) and the Saugeen First Nations. He has an understanding of the unique issues facing First Nations individuals. 

His broad range of legal experience, trial knowledge and skills serve Scott's clients with sound legal judgement.  Scott makes every effort to focus on successful resolution of his client's cases.  In some cases it is necessary to go to Court and Scott's 30+ years of Court and Trial experience will serve you well.  Plus, He has often been involved in Alternate Dispute resolution through mediation and formal Family Group Conferences both in custody/access and the Children's Aid Society cases. 

Scott will guide you through each step of the legal process with ease. He has appeared before all levels of Court in the Province of Ontario on a regular basis. He has strong trial advocacy skills which he has honed by conducting hundreds of trials.
